…is what a client and friend once very kindly said. What she meant is that everyone should have a scrum master at his or her side who keeps a clear overview, maneuvers through any struggles on the work floor and knows how to get to the point – or rather, to get to the actual goal of the project.
Before becoming a scrum master, I worked as a project manager for quite some time. Whereas a scrum master is actually focusing on the project and the people, a project manager is mainly occupied with loads of paperwork. Before a project actually starts, hundreds of documents are composed and loads of plans are made. In hindsight, only a fraction of those plans is carried out. Such a waste - I rather spend my time on helping people grow and making the best of their project. Being an agile coach, I am able to train and coach multiple teams, product owners, scrum masters as well as management and stakeholders. It’s extremely versatile, but most of all very rewarding. By setting up my own training program, I can even help more people. Something that makes me truly happy.
Before founding APC, I noticed that many training courses concerning scrum and agile focused mainly on theory. After completing a course in one or two days, you get a certificate and that’s it. Nobody really knows how to put all this theory in practice, and I think that’s very strange. You wouldn’t be able to drive a car when only passing your theory exam either, right?
My programs are set up in such a way that scrum masters all over the world can share and tackle the struggles that they face in their own practices. With the use of just a little bit of theory, they can put what they have learned into practice. To make sure they stay on the right track, they can use the online group coaching sessions to ask specific questions about their own situation and challenges.
I too have acquired many certificates an diplomas. To give you an idea:
- Professional Scrum Master (PSM) I & II
- Professional Scrum Product Owner (PSPO) I
- SAFe Program Consultant (SPC)
- Post-Bachelor Agile Coach
- Agile Team Facilitation (ICP-ATF)
- Agile Coaching (ICP-ACC)
For a long time, I believed that if I just kept on learning, practice would work out automatically in the end. That proved to be untrue: apart from the theory I needed a coach and mentor as well. To teach me, to adjust when needed and to do some self-reflection from time to time. As long as my list of certificates may be, I value my personal skills and strengths equally. I am a good planner, for instance, and am able to perform under high work pressure. I approach situations from helicopter vision, have a high integrity and am a true team player. And most importantly: I always go for results.
Apart from myself, Agile Pro Center consists of a team of enthusiastic virtual assistants and freelance agile coaches. They all have their own unique skills and strengths – this way we can provide you a thorough set of expertise.
Enough about us, what about you? Are you ready to get to work and put all that knowledge to practice? Then let’s get started!
